Farmers Markets

Late Summer is the best time for Farmers Markets and their fresh produce. The wide variety of veggies are at their peak ripeness and ready to grace your table.   We are always encouraging people to increase their veggie intake and fresh produce this time of year makes that so much easier!  Some of the markets even have local meats, cheeses, breads and other products.  If you are looking for the best selections, be sure to arrive early to get first pick.  Looking for deals? Consider stopping by later in the day.

Here in the Fargo Moorhead area we are fortunate to have several market options. If you haven’t taken the opportunity, find some time and check them out.  Here are a few of the options available:

  • Farmers Market at West Acres (West parking lot) Tuesdays – Thursdays – Saturdays from 10 – 5 through October 31st
  • Red River Market – Downtown Fargo (North end of Broadway) Saturdays from 10 -2 through October 28th
  • West Fargo Farmers Market – South Elmwood Park – Mondays and Thursdays from 3:30 – 6:30 through October 5h
  • Moorhead Farmers Market – Moorhead Center Mall – Tuesdays 2:00 – 7:00 through September

Take our challenge! If you eat vegetables on a regular basis, consider finding a new variety of your favorite or an entirely new veggie to try. If you aren’t a fan of veggies, this time of year is a great time to explore and find something you might like. Either way, explore different options on how to prepare it, microwaving and boiling often take out much of the flavor, leaving veggies mushy and bland. Instead, consider grilling or roasting and be sure to add some spices to enhance the flavor. You never know you might find a new favorite!  Email us a picture and tell us about it!

Our other posts have some great recipe ideas – check them out too!
